An introduction to Leather Bondage Equipment
As there is such a wide range of bondage toys on the market today, it can be difficult to choose what to get and you might find yourself asking “What sort of Bondage Gear should I buy first?”, so we at Affordable Leather Products thought we’d write a short introduction to some of the types of bondage equipment which are out there to help you make up your mind.
Basic Bondage Gear
Wrist and Ankle Cuffs
A classic starting point for people who want to extend their repertoire of play from basic DIY bondage gear such as dressing gown cords or ties. A pair of leather wrist restraints can be used to secure someone’s hands together behind their back to give them a feeling of vulnerability and helplessness as they will find it difficult to protect their sensitive areas from the attentions of the dominant partner.
When you add in a set of ankle cuffs you can restrain someone in a spread-eagle position on a bed increasing their feelings of exposure and expanding the opportunities for naughty play.
For beginners to leather bondage toys, a set of cuffs for wrists and ankles are an excellent choice.
Collars
A great way to show your submission to your Master or Mistress is to wear their collar. This can be a basic leather dog collar if you want to keep your pet under control, or a broader version such as our 2″ collars. We also sell chin-up or posture collars which force the wearer to keep their head up (no slouching!).
One of our most popular styles is the locking stainless steel collar which is shaped to curve down at the front to rest on the collar bones (the Turian style for fans of the Gor books) to make it comfortable to wear for extended periods whilst still looking great.
Of course they all have rings or D rings on the front to attach leashes to and many also have D rings at the side so you can secure wrist cuffs to them with double-ended trigger hooks.
Bondage Toys
Blindfolds
Again, these are a good step-up from DIY BDSM toys such as scarves. They are great for enhancing the physical experience because when you remove sight from the equation the other senses are heightened.
We sell quality padded, buckle-fastening leather blindfolds and we even have a comfortable blindfold for contact lens wearers which has two “dips” in the padding so it supports itself around the outside of the eye socket without pressing uncomfortably on the eyelid.
Gags
Another one of the classic pieces of bondage gear, causing someone to lose their power of speech is a good way to increase their feelings of submission.
There are many types of gags in the realms of bondage equipment, one of the most popular is our comfortable soft rubber ball gag which (unlike many which use hard, solid rubber dog balls) has a rubber shell with a soft foam inner that fills the mouth, but allows the wearer to close their jaw to swallow or ease the muscles if they start getting tired.
If that’s not your preference, there’s also the rubber bit gag which gives your sub something to get their teeth into (we also do a version which combines the rubber bit and soft rubber ball) or, if medical play is more your style, we sell the Whitehead and Jennings dental gags which hold the mouth open and have PVC coating on the bars to protect the teeth. They are great if you want to force someone to take oral sex or use their mouth as an ashtray or perhaps make them drink golden wine.
Of course you should always check before using these bondage toys that your slave doesn’t have breathing difficulties or an over-active gag reflex and it is strongly recommended that, since they can’t use a Safe Word, you arrange a Safe Signal such as finger signs or having them hold a bunch of keys or other object that will make a clearly noticeable sound when dropped which means your slave wants you to stop what you’re doing as it’s getting beyond their limits.
Bondage Equipment and Sets
Bedroom Bondage Kits
Another good place to begin your collection of bondage equipment, we have a range of beginner packages combining some of our most popular items such as leather collars, cuffs, restraint straps and hogtie binders which pull the ankles up to the wrists.
We also have a lovely set of utility straps which can be used to secure your slave in a spread-eagle position for bed bondage or they can be combined with our door jam restriction bars to convert a door temporarily into a bondage point (like a Saint Andrews cross), but which can then be removed and hidden away after use.
Leg Spreader Bars
As the name suggests, these bondage toys are designed to keep legs (or, indeed arms) spread apart, but there’s more to them than that. These are metal bars with a D ring at each end to which you can attach wrist and ankle cuffs to hold your submissive in position, they are especially useful if you don’t have a bed with posts to spread-eagle them to. You can buy them in fixed lengths or, if you prefer, we sell an adjustable, extendable leg-spreader bar which lets you decide just how much spreading happens.
These piece of bondage equipment can be used to restrain the wearer for access or to immobilise them, or, if you prefer, making a slave try to walk around with a long spreader bar between their ankles can be a most amusing and entertaining sight for a Dominant!
There’s also a variant which is the ankle hobble bar, which, as it implies, is designed to keep your sub’s ankles close together, making them have to take tiny steps if they want to walk (especially if you’re leading them around on a leash!)
Leather Armbinders
Sometimes known as the Monoglove or Turkey Trusser, the single sleeve leather armbinders are great for keeping your slave’s arms immobile because if they are wearing wrist cuffs, they still have a fair degree of movement since they can flex their elbows, however these binders keep the arms pointed straight down the back making movement much more difficult.
They also have a lovely extra feature which is a ring at the end of the Monoglove section which can be pulled up to a restriction point (such as one provided by our door restriction bars), leaving the sub in a perfect position for a spanked bottom. Alternatively you can use one of our utility straps to pull a set of ankle cuffs up, hence the name Turkey Trusser!
BDSM Toys
Floggers, Whips and Paddles
When you want to increase your range of sensation play, you can expand your range of BDSM toys with some of our impact play toys and discipline equipment.
To start with, naturally, you don’t want to go for anything extreme, so we’d recommend trying one of the suede floggers which have a thuddy impact, rather than a strong sting. Our personal favourites are the super heavy suede loop-tail floggers where, as the name implies, the tails loop back up to the handle (instead of being cut straight) giving an impact which is just pure thud, no sting at all.
Another great option for beginners’ impact play are the horse hair floggers. These can be brushed gently across the sting for a sensuous effect or, when applied a little more firmly, give a sort of scratchy sting sensation, but not one that is too much to bear. As you build up the intensity, the horse hair whip gives a fantastic tingly sensation and are fabulous for warming someone up as they get the endorphins flowing and leave your slave buzzing.
Of course if you want something more intense, we have BDSM toys such as braided leather floggers and whips, plus a fine selection of riding crops for some seriously stingy BDSM impact play.
Whatever your preference, at Affordable Leather Products we have the leather bondage gear and BDSM toys you want for all your kinky bedroom bondage fun.
